Richard Webster of Cornhill London Bracket Clock

Richard Webster of Cornhill London.

A superb quality break arch pad top bracket clock.  The case features superb quality mahogany veneers with ebony lines and brass inlay to the front and silk backed brass fish scale frets to the side. The rear door is glazed which allows a view of the engraved back plate.  It is very rare for a clock of this period to be offered with their original wall bracket. Webster is recorded as working from 1810 to 1840. This clock is estimated to be around 1820.  The movement has a nicely engraved backplate featuring the makers name an engraved border and pendulum bob.  The mechanism itself features a tic tac escapement and unusual hammer and bell geometry.  The clock runs for 8 days and strikes the hours on a bell.

The clock height is 41cm (clock with bracket height is 62cm). The dial size is 18cm.
