John Ladd Bracket Clock

A fine quality mahogany double fusee chamfer top bracket clock made by John Ladd, a renowned clock and chronometer maker based in Cornhill London Circa 1825.

The stepped chamfer top case, topped with a pineapple finial features pierced brass, silk backed side frets, below lions head side carrying handles. To the front, the case features recessed brass framed triangular panels that frame the brass bezel and convex dial.

The case also displays some beautiful features typical of fine clocks from this period. The front elevation is decorated with the finest mahogany curl veneer, there are ebonised mouldings that blend nicely with the rich mahogany, brass inlayed canted corners and brass ball feet.

The convex dial painted with roman numerals measures 21cm (8”) in diameter. The cast brass bezel retains its original convex glass.

The movement is an  eight-day, twin fusee, time and strike movement, striking the hours on a bell, with a nicely designed and calibrated pendulum with original transit pendulum lock.

The clock is displayed on a new bespoke matching wall bracket. The clock measures 54cm (21”) tall, 30cm (12”)Wide and 21cm (approx. 8.5”) deep.
